WHAT IS A CORNSTALK POINT?
The Cornstalk Point is used for a friendly competition among members of the Cherokee Nation called a Cornstalk Shoot.

This is a great social event that people have participated in for centuries, and is practiced today at many shoots in the western part of the US.

The targets, two bundles of cornstalks, are set about 80 yards apart. Participants stand by one bundle and shoot at the other, and then down to the other end and back up again, with one point given for each cornstalk that is penetrated by an arrow. The winner is the shooter with the most points.
